Welcome to Our Town Canon City!  We are not affiliated with Main Street USA and make no claims as to follow any of their approaches or principles. We are a group of merchants who have accomplished a lot for our community.

The Clock Tower is keeping time and if you noticed, it has been ringing on the hour.   A big thank you to those who were so instrumental in making this happen.  A special thank you to Dennis G. for putting in so much time and effort in making this happen.

CLOCK TOWER GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY

A significant event occurred in the history of Our Town Cañon City on Sunday, July 25th, 2005. The long anticipated ground breaking ceremony marks the beginning of the final stage of the Clock Tower project.

Many different things come to mind for each of us as we think of the Clock Tower. If we focus on the positive aspects of this project, and its evolution we will have a better perception of what this Clock Tower represents – and that’s community.

Community in the form of those who have participated in the project and given countless volunteer hours, community from those who have generously donated their money awaiting this final outcome, community in the form of all the events that have been hosted by Our Town Cañon City which included a melting pot of individuals to meet and befriend, and lastly community in what we believe the Clock Tower represents for Cañon City.

More than 1000 individuals have generously donated their hard earned funds to make this project possible and I would like to personally extend our gratitude on behalf of those in Our Town Cañon City to each of these individuals.

When this project was started several years ago, it was never imagined that it would take this long to become a reality. Many different obstacles have occurred and we have overcome them and this has become as much a project in patience and trust as it has anything else.

This patience and trust have provided us much of the fiber that binds us all together during bleak periods and fuels the determination that has been required to bring this item to fruition.

I and the Board of Directors of Our Town Cañon City consider it a privilege to finish this project for the community and we thank you for that opportunity.
